A recent article found on indiewire focused on the issue of the anti- transgender bathroom bill in Texas. In response to this bill, Legacy Community Health and the ACLU of Texas partnered with one of the best filmmakers from Texas, Richard Linklater and created a PSA to bring attention to the bill and get people to take action by “taking a seat.” I found this article very interesting as well as the PSA itself for many reasons. The biggest idea that was brought to my attention while reading this article is just how influential film can be. This PSA is a perfect example of how videos can have political meaning behind them or influence people to get involved by striking a chord with them on a personal level without having to even meet them. I personally found this article interesting because my passion is documentary work. This PSA could be considered documentary, having real life issues addressed in the video.
