A recent article on indiewire talks about the new ways that filmmakers have been jumping on in releasing their films. Streaming is of course the latest move that filmmakers are taking to get their films out fast and successfully. One good point that Dana Harris talks about is when she states, “It’s impossible, and unnecessary, to fault any of these filmmakers for taking the streaming route; they see where the business is going, too. However, while streaming TV series create a lot more watercooler chatter than movies nowadays, the marketing benefit for independent films that are scooped into the Netflix or Amazon maw is still unclear.” I feel as though times are constantly changing with film and television and the consumers being able to stream anything they want at their fingertips. As of now I do not blame filmmakers for taking the streaming route because it seems to be the fastest and best idea at this time.
