A recent podcast on indiewire talks about a very interesting topic that is very popular today. Anne Thompson and Eric Kohn talk about whether film or television has the upper hand. It is no doubt that television has definitely become very popular among consumers. This leads to question concerning the future of cinema. One interesting point that is brought up is the difference of films being presented at festivals compared to the normal consumer market. Anne brings up a good point that a good way the press reaction is released to the public is through twitter and social media. I personally think that TV isn’t necessarily taking over the film world, although it has definitely become more popular when it comes to netflix. There will always be film cinema as well though. An example of a successful new film is “Beauty and The Beast.” This is a perfect example of how cinema will always hit home for people.
